This year we have been Nu-Heat approved, it’s an exciting time for the business and we are proud to be adding it to our services.
Do you want to look after the environment for the future and save space in your home? Why not opt for energy-efficient underfloor heating in your home?
Underfloor heating is a way of heating a home through strong and flexible tubing that is embedded in the floor. This type of heating is efficient and affordable and offers numerous advantages over radiators.
There are various types of underfloor heating systems available and will depend on a range of factors including your project type your current heating system and your energy source.
- Suitable for most properties
- Energy-efficient
- Maximises space in the home
- The luxurious feeling of warm floors
- Flexible control through zoning areas of the home
How does it work?
Underfloor heating essentially works by turning the floor area into a giant, efficient and invisible heat emitter. Heating tubes or cables are installed beneath the floor, which heats up and warms the room from the ground up.
- For warm water underfloor heating systems, strong, flexible tubing is used
- For electric underfloor heating systems, cables are used
Due to underfloor heating covering such a large surface area, it is able to use much lower water temperatures than radiators. This helps to improve efficiency – especially with a heat pump – and also better heats a room as there are no cold spots.
The design
The design of your system is built to suit your home so that the underfloor heating performs as expected. The design process takes into account room-by-room heat loss, optimised running efficiency, and other critical factors to ensure the system heats your home in a better way.
- Having a well-designed underfloor system gives you a responsive and achievable perfect temperature – neither too hot nor too cold.
- Maximum efficiency can be achieved by optimising the system to produce the right amount of heat with minimal energy use.
- A detailed tube layout and electrical drawings will be sent to the installer, simplifying the installation process.
- Each room can be set to a different temperature, giving you complete comfort.
- Because the amount of tubing and materials required are calculated, any excess is kept to a minimum – reducing waste.
Benefits of underfloor heating
What are the benefits of installing UFH in your home? From energy efficiency to a luxury feel, we take a look below at the many benefits.
- Flexibility – Underfloor heating is extremely flexible. It can be installed in any property type, from new builds to renovations and extensions. It can be installed in one room or multiple rooms and it can even be installed upstairs.
- Warm, heated floors – They feel divine underneath our toes with the heat gently emitting upwards from the floor, making cold floors feel warm underfoot. UFH systems produce an even warmth, eliminating cold spots and draughts common with radiators.
- 25% more efficient – Warm water underfloor heating uses far lower flow temperatures than a radiator system. By covering a larger surface area it is still able to heat the room effectively, using less energy in the process. UFH’s efficiency is around 25% more than radiators and up to 40% more efficient when paired with a heat pump!
- Space saving & discreet – They are invisible, as the tube is hidden beneath the floor. This eliminates the need for radiators, freeing up valuable wall space. UFH is ideal for open-plan living, smaller homes, and rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms where space is at a premium.
- Safe & healthy – Underfloor heating has no exposed hot or sharp edges. It’s a safe option for children and the elderly, and great for allergy sufferers as it provides warmth free from draughts and dust movements.
- Kind to the environment – As a low-temperature heating system, underfloor heating uses less energy than traditional high-temperature systems like radiators. This can help you to reduce your carbon footprint – even more so when installed alongside a heat pump.
UFH Options
Underfloor heating for new builds
Perfect for new builds as it’s cost-effective and simple to install. A screed UFH system is a popular choice, but you can also opt for a totally dry option, FastDeck if drying times are a key consideration.
Underfloor heating for renovations
Are you remodelling or updating your home? Underfloor heating can also be installed as part of a renovation project. Nu-Heat’s LoPro retrofit UFH systems can be laid on top of an existing floor, offering high heat outputs to meet the higher heat loss of older properties.
Upstairs underfloor heating
Did you know that underfloor heating is a great solution for all floors of a property, not just downstairs? Nu-Heat offers a range of UFH solutions that have been designed specifically for installation on upper and joisted floors.
Underfloor heating for single rooms
Enjoy heated floors and free up wall space in a kitchen or bathroom with a OneZone underfloor heating kit. The complete kits include everything your need to install warm water or electric underfloor heating in a single room.
Nu-Heat’s underfloor heating range
Warm water/ wet underfloor heating – suitable for most properties, whether building from new or undertaking a renovation
